PROVISIT – EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany.

All other foreign guests require a visa for stays in Germany, the other EU countries as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. A visa is not required for visits of up to 90 days in a 180 day period for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement. The table of countries whose citizens require/do not require visas to enter Germany shows an overview of the regulations by the federal foreign office. If you or your visitor require a visa for entering Germany or the other Schengen states, a number of formalities need to be considered.
